Experience lectures and community life at FMBC
All course participants are invited to join us in person for our Winter or Spring Open Days, held at the FMBC campus in Edinburgh. It’s a great opportunity to experience sample lectures and college life, take a campus tour, chat with lecturers, meet current students and other EMM participants.
We’d love to see you there!
*If you’re coming from a distance, accommodation can be booked in the college at a very reasonable price.
Who is this course for?
This course is for any Christian who is wondering whether God may be calling them to gospel ministry or theological training. You don’t need to have everything figured out — just a desire to explore and grow.
Do I have to be considering full-time ministry to join?
Not necessarily. The course is aimed at those who are open to the possibility of full-time or bi-vocational gospel ministry — whether in a church, mission, or youth/children’s context. It’s for those who are prayerfully exploring a deeper vocational calling, whatever form that might take.
How is the course delivered?
The five sessions are delivered live online via a Microsoft Teams video call on weekday evenings. Each session includes Bible teaching, guest testimonies, discussion, and space for prayerful reflection.
What does it cost?
There is no charge for the course — it’s completely free. You just need to commit your time and attention, and be willing to reflect and engage.
Is there any homework or assessment?
There will be a small amount of optional reading and some personal reflection exercises between sessions, but there are no formal assessments, exams, or essays.
What happens after the course?
You are warmly invited to join us at the ‘Word Ministry’ training morning on Saturday 09 May, at which the EMM course organiser, Angus Moyes, will deliver three sessions on key principles for teaching God’s word. Register at fmbiblecollege.org.uk/public-lectures. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to find out more about FMBC over a light lunch. Or if you would like another opportunity to explore ministry training further — at FMBC or elsewhere — we’ll be very happy to chat and help you think things through.
Will this help me decide whether to apply to FMBC?
Yes — that’s one of the goals. The course is designed to help people explore whether FMBC might be the right place for them to train and grow in ministry. But the wider focus is to help you respond to God’s call, wherever that may lead.
