Our Foundation Awards are designed to provide a flexible and accessible option for those who want to go deeper in their understanding of God’s word and to be equipped for service in their local church, but cannot commit to more extensive periods of study.

We’re excited to launch 5 new Foundation Awards in September 2026. Our 40-credit Foundation Awards are designed with flexibility and accessibility in mind, allow you to pursue the streams within our programmes that will be the most helpful to you. Every Foundation Award represents 60-80 hours of class time and lectures are taught by our expert and experienced lecturers.
This course introduces students to the literature of the Old Testament (Torah; historical books; writing prophets; Psalms and ‘wisdom’), exploring its key trajectories and theological themes. [20 credits]
This course introduces students to the literature of the New Testament (gospels and Acts; Pauline epistles; non-Pauline epistles; Revelation), exploring its key trajectories and theological themes. [20 credits]
This course enables students to explore major theological themes affirmed in the central summaries of the Christian faith (i.e. creeds and confessions), and to examine them in relationship with biblical exegesis. [20 credits]
This course introduces students to the global history of Christianity from the first to twenty-first centuries with a focus on the developments in theology, exegesis, and missions. [20 credits]
This courses introduces students to biblical hermeneutics (i.e. biblical interpretation) in historical and theological perspective; including case studies and practical exposition. [20 credits]
An in-depth exploration of the theory and practice of Christian preaching. [20 credits]
In this course, students will explore the theology, history, and practice of prayer and revival [5 credits]
This module unites developmental theory with faith and practice in order to minister effectively in various contexts. Students will develop communication skills and proficiency in planning and management – all against the backdrop of their own growing spiritual integrity. [5 credits]
This module studies the teachings of Christ from the Sermon on the Mount. Students will study how a person is changed as a believer and how this influences their relationships with others. [5 credits]
In this course, students will explore the theology and practice of pastoral care [5 credits]
This courses introduces students to biblical hermeneutics (i.e. biblical interpretation) in historical and theological perspective; including case studies and practical exposition. [15 credits]
NB – If a student has already completed the Biblical Interpretation module they may substitute this for Homiletics.
